The quick GB analasys:
1. Goal:
Take Mount Euncoma before 0940.
2. Terrain:
General all terrain is open with no special protection.
St Giorgio (protective) gives a good and solid fire base for A
Kents/Kents.
U Bat has a good sight on the terrain with a good LOS/fire to
the enemy.
T Bat give good protection and covers all slopes towards T Bat
Mt Euncome blocks LOS/Fire for the southern GE plt
The slopes of Mt E. deny a quick attack
3. Enemy:
Will try to hold Mt Euncome until follow up forces arrive
4. Options:
Use fire of units/mort and art to suppress enemy Move towards enemy under cover of fire
5. Plan:
Phase 1:
U Bat, A Kents, kents and mortars suppres enemy south and on top
of Mt E.
B Kents Spot for art on Ge plt north of Mt E. B Kents attack Mt
E.
Phase 2:
B Kents assault Ge plt on North slope. Others incl art/mort suppress
enemy.
Phase 3:
Mortars suppress Ge plt South
B Kents suppress T bat.
Others attack T Bat.
Assuming the Germans would try to keep Mt E. I gave it a try. At 0940 I managed to wipe out the Ge units except the MG section (-1 step). I had almost all GB plt at the top of Mt E. So I would call it a draw. I used the Luftwafe at full strenght and it kicked some...... The 9 FA didn't have their day, their results weren't great. Although a draw I think the plan works well. In the full game the GE player will have to divide his air sorties. So less effect of these to this area. This will result in shift in balance to the GB player for this scenario.
For interest here is my replay report of the game
I enjoyed analysing and playing this short scenario. Thanks for the challenge. Greetings Detlev 'I gave it a try' Simons.
