OK, here it is. I won't plot exact moves all the way, cause one
can't predict everything, but I write down the "idea". I very
much subscribe to the idea that if a LOS is doubtfull, it is blocked.
The Germans
- may move to 40.23 to fire overwatch at moving units (OWM)
- may get help from the beaches
- may send Stukas against our a/ mortars b/ stack 36.19
- may fall back towards beach 7
- may withdraw to battery T for last stand
- may force us to move first
We, The British, will attack first with B co towards 45.25 with
the intent of cutting of Mt Euncona from beach 7, second, supported
by crossfires, with Bren plt to clear the 40.20 valley and with
A Co to take battery T. Our final objective is to etablish a defensive
line on the east slope of Mt Euncona even if the paras still holds
the battery.
Set up
43.25 in move mode (MM), all others in fire mode (FM).
TURN 1
We will move second <if we fail this, save Bofors to fire OW in
German turn>
German Move
The Bofors Stack (Bofors) will fire overwatch at firers (OWF),
the Mortars
will do the same at 42.24. <if any of these are dumb enough to
fire>
Our move
Same people as above fires at German OWM
Fire arty at 42.24 (if this do not supress fire 39.27 & mortats
to at him)
43.28 move to 44.25 and enter FM
41.28 move to 41.26 and enter FM
38.21 move to 40.20 <and provoking OWM for Bofors to fire at>
A co moves to 38.22, 38.23, 38.24, staying in MM
Finaly Mortar, Bofors and 39.27 will fire the best possible SFA's
TURN 2
We will move second <if we fail this, save Bofors to fire OW in
German turn>
German Move
Fire best possible OW, with priority to Germas outside battery
T
Our Move
Same people as above fires at German OWM
Fire arty at 42.23
41.26 & 44.25 SFA against 42.24
39.27 move to 41.27, staying in MM
40.20 and Mortars SFA at 42.21
A co moves to 41.22 and 40.24 and enters FM and 39.23, staying
in MM
Finaly Bofors fires SFA at will
TURN 3
We will move first <if we fail this, never mind>
Our Move (Scetchy, this may take an additional turn)
One plt (or more) from each co fires SFA together with mortars
against T
B Co moves against 45.25 and clears 42.25
Bren plt clears 42.21 and moves against 44.21
A Co takes T <no assault>
Bofors limbers up and moves towards T. MG and AT stays and defends
U
<last arty are to be saved against German reinforcements>
That is it. With reasonable luck we we will be in T on turn 3 and if the battery holds out longer we will still have surrounded the mountain, being able to form a defensive line between 46.20 and 42.26. Barring lucky air-strikes we will lose 4-5 steps. The Germans will be dead or SYR-ed away.
